Danny Doughty (b. 1960, Willis Wharf, VA) has been painting for the last twenty-five years, but only recently has he turned to art full time. He lives today in the same house where he was born and raised in a region largely isolated from the frenetic pace of the rest of the world. This sense of identity with his roots has been, he feels, the catalyst for his unique ‘naïve’ style of painting. His work—colorful, pure, down to earth—conveys the sense of a life that may be more appealing than the harsh reality of the ‘real’ world.
