What is the Object Project at Chatham Vineyards, stop #4?

What do a flower, a glass vessel, a string or ribbon, a key or lock, and some grapes have in common? They comprise the list of common objects that the Sneak Peek artists have mutually agreed to combine in any way they choose in still life paintings and sculptures. While the two-dimensional artists will include all five objects in their works, the three-dimensional artists will choose from among these same objects. This separate show (dubbed the Object Project), will show people the diversity of technical, visual, and interpretive creativity resulting from each artist’s approach to handling similar content.

The Object Project will be on display at the Chatham Vineyards, open free to the public, concurrent with the Sneak Peek Studio Tour. The exhibit will remain open at the Chatham Winery through April 10 during their regular business hours Thursday to Monday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except Sundays, from noon until 5 p.m.). Historic Chatham Farm has been a working farm for four centuries, originally patented in 1640. Its current Federal-period house was built in 1818 and named after William Pitt, the Earl of Chatham. Jonathan Wehner (a second-generation Virginia vintner) and his wife Mills, will offer complimentary tours and tasting as they extend a warm welcome to art lovers.
